To add a dog, open the **Dogs** tab and tap the + button at the bottom right. Enter its name, breed and sex, say whether it is a Nordic breed, then add photos of its identification and vaccinations, now or later.

## Add a dog

1. Open the **Dogs** tab (**My dogs** screen) and tap the + button at the bottom right.
2. Tap the photo to **Add photo** of your dog (optional).
3. Enter **Name of your dog** and **Breed of your dog**.
4. Choose the **Gender**: **Male** or **Female**.
5. Turn on **Is it a Nordic breed?** if this applies (see below).
6. Tap the arrow at the bottom right to continue.

The screen confirms: **Congratulations! Your dog is registered.**

## Add identification and vaccinations

To take part in a competition, you will need to provide photos of your dog's identification (chip and date of birth) and vaccinations (CHP, rabies, lepto, kennel cough Bb/Pi). You have three options:

- **With the passport**: the app asks you for a photo of the page with the chip number, then the page with the date of birth, then the vaccination pages. After each photo, an automatic analysis suggests the values: check them and correct them if needed.
- **With a dog health record**: a single photo of the dog health sheet, filled in and signed by your vet. The dog's name on the sheet must be exactly the one you have just entered. The **cyno-health sheet model** link lets you download the template.
- **Enter vaccines later**: the dog is saved without vaccinations. You will add them from its record.

This step and how to update vaccinations are explained in [The vaccination passport](/en/docs/competitor/vaccination-passport/).

> **CAUTION**
Enter the **expiry dates** of the vaccinations, not the dates they were given.

## The "Nordic" box

A team is classed as Nordic only if **all** its dogs are Nordic. If the breed you enter looks like a Nordic breed (Siberian husky, Alaskan malamute, Samoyed, Greenland dog) but the box is not ticked, the app asks you when you save: "The breed of your dog seems to be a nordic breed, but the "nordic" box is not checked. Is your dog nordic?"

- **Yes, it is nordic** ticks the box and saves.
- **No, save as is** saves without ticking it.

A cross-breed or an Alaskan husky does not trigger this question.

> **NOTE**
When you register with several dogs and some are Nordic and others are not, a warning tells you that your team will not be classed as Nordic. If you simply forgot, tick the box in that dog's record.

## Edit a dog

1. In the **Dogs** tab, tap the dog.
2. The **Dog** tab lets you change **Name**, **Chip**, **Breed**, **Birthday**, **Gender** and **Nordic?**.
3. Tap the save button at the bottom right.

The other tabs of the record are **Identification & vaccines** and **Races** (the races the dog is entered in). The bin icon at the bottom left deletes the dog.

## Add a dog while registering

In the entry form, the dog list offers **Add my dog**. Once the dog is saved, you go back to your entry. The **Search a dog** option lets you choose a dog already registered on someone else's profile (search by name or chip number). See [Register for a race](/en/docs/competitor/register/).

## Common problems

**"A passport is already created on the platform with this electronic chip number".** There must be only one profile per dog. Do not create a duplicate: when you register, choose **Search a dog** and select the dog that is already registered.

**"You cannot delete your dog because it is registered for one or more races."** First edit the entries concerned to change the dog, then delete it.

**"Dog too young".** The race has a minimum age (in months) that your dog will not have reached on race day.

**"Unable to save".** A required field is empty: name, breed or sex when creating the dog; chip and date of birth as well when editing it.
