# How do I add my sports licence?

To add a licence, open **Profile** > **My licenses**, tap the + button, then take a photo of your licence (image or PDF). The app reads the document and fills in the federation, season, club and number; check these details, then save.

## Why add your licence

A valid licence with the organising federation often means you do not need a medical certificate or the **Daily license** supplement charged to competitors without a licence. Some races are even reserved for licence holders from certain federations, clubs or regions.

No licence? This is usually not a problem: most competitions accept competitors without a licence, with a [medical certificate or health questionnaire](/en/docs/competitor/medical-certificate/).

## Add a licence

1. Open the **Profile** tab, then **My licenses** (**Documents** section).
2. Tap the + button at the bottom right.
3. The screen shows who the licence will be added to ("You are going to add a license to …").
4. Tap **Take a picture of the license** and photograph your licence, or choose an image or a PDF.
5. Wait while the photo is analysed. A message then asks you to check the details.
6. Check and correct if needed:
   - **Federation**: tap the field to search for the federation;
   - **Season**: choose the season the licence covers;
   - **Club**: tap the field to search for your club;
   - **Number**: the licence number;
   - **Is a handicapped sports license**: turn on if this applies.
7. Tap the save button at the bottom right.

VDSV licence holder? The photo is optional: tap **Licensed VDSV, I don't take a photo.** to fill in the form directly.

## Add a licence while registering

In the entry form, the **License** section offers **Add my license** (or the + button next to **I don't have a license**). The **Add a license** window opens; tap **Save** to go back to your entry with the licence selected.

If you add a licence after registering, Canicompet links it automatically to the entries concerned and shows you the list. If you had paid for a day licence, "Day license / ATP refunded" appears next to that entry.

## Edit or delete a licence

1. In **My licenses**, tap the licence.
2. Change the fields and save, or tap the bin at the bottom left to delete it.

A licence bought online shows "The license was purchased online, so it cannot be modified."; it can be neither edited nor deleted.

## Checked by the organiser

For each race, the organiser checks your licence. Its status appears in the **Registrations** tab, on the **License** badge: green if validated, orange if **License not yet validated**, red if **License refused**. If it is refused, tap the badge, then **Fix**. See [Track your entries](/en/docs/competitor/my-registrations/).

## Common problems

**"The license analysis did not identify your first and last name."** This does not matter: check that it is the right document and correct the details if needed.

**"Please check the spelling of your club and then validate."** The club read on the licence was not found as written. Search for it in the **Club** field. If you cannot find it, choose **I can't find my club, I add it**.

**"Invalid license" during an entry.** The licence season does not match the event date. Check the **Season**.

**"Invalid federation".** The race is reserved for licence holders from certain federations: select a licence that is valid with one of them.

**"Federation is required.", "Season is required.", "Number is required."** Fill in the field shown before saving.
