# How do I create a Canicompet account?

> Create your Canicompet account in a few minutes with your email, a password and your personal details, then confirm your email address.

To create an account, open the menu, choose **Create account**, fill in the form and tap **Create the account**. You are then logged in, and the setup assistant helps you add your licence, your medical certificate and your dogs.

## Create the account

1. Open the menu (top left) and tap **Create account**. The **Login** screen has the same button (**Create an account**).
2. In the **Authentication** section, enter your **Email**, then type it again in **Email (re-type)**. You cannot paste into this second field: type the address by hand.
3. Choose a **Password** and type it again in **Password (re-type)**. The bar under the field shows how strong the password is.
4. In **Personal information**, fill in **First name**, **Last name**, **Gender** (**Man** or **Woman**) and **Birthday**. The **Phone number** is optional.
5. In **Address**, the postal address is optional. Choose your **Country** (required).
6. Tap **Create the account**.

> **NOTE**
Your date of birth is used to work out your age category when you register. Without it, you cannot enter a race.

## After creating the account

Your account is created and you are logged in. You land on the **Configuration of your account** screen, which guides you step by step: see [The setup assistant](/en/docs/getting-started/onboarding/).

An email is also sent to the address you entered. It can take a few minutes to arrive, so check your spam folder too.

## Confirm your email address

If the app tells you that your address is not confirmed, open the email you received and click the confirmation link. The link opens the Canicompet login screen, which confirms the address and shows a confirmation message. You can then log in as usual.

If the confirmation fails, the screen shows **Error validating your email.** The link may be too old: ask for a new email (see below).

### Get a new confirmation email

1. Log in with your email and password.
2. The **Email not validated** message appears. Tap **Resend email**.
3. Use the link in the **latest** email you received: only that one is valid.

### Fix a mistyped address

1. Log in with the wrong address and your password.
2. In the **Email not validated** message, tap **This is not the right address**.
3. In **Correct my email address**, enter the new address twice, then tap **Validate**. A new confirmation email is sent to it.

## Common problems

**"Did you mean …?"** While you type, the app spots some common typos in the domain name. Tap **Correct** to apply the suggestion.

**"Invalid email address".** The address cannot receive emails, so it probably contains a typo (for example in gmail.com or hotmail.com). Nothing has been created: fix the address and tap **Create the account** again.

**"Your password is too weak".** Mix lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers and special characters.

**"Existing account".** There are several possible cases:

- An account with the same first name, last name and date of birth already exists: you cannot create a second one. Use **Password lost** if you have forgotten the password. See [Forgotten password](/en/docs/getting-started/login-password/).
- That account exists with an address that was never confirmed: the app shows the address partly hidden. Log in with that address, then choose **This is not the right address** to fix it, or tap **Contact**.
- One or more accounts already use your email: you can still create a new account, but it will not include the old account's data (licence, dogs…). Use **Password lost** instead if the old account is yours.

**"The email could not be sent".** Try again in a few minutes.

**"Too many emails have been sent for this account".** Wait an hour before asking for another confirmation email.

**"The email associated with your account seems invalid" banner.** On the calendar, tap this banner to fix your address.
