# Set up payments

> Turn on online payment, choose who pays the service fee, enter your IBAN, and accept cheques, cash or payment on site for your race entries.

You set payment methods in the dashboard, under **Payments**. Online card payment costs €0.75 per payment up to €15, then 5% above that. The money collected is paid out to your account within 7 days after the race. Cheques, cash and payment on site are free.

## Open the payment settings

1. Open the event dashboard.
2. Under **Event Configuration**, tap **Payments**.
3. Change the settings, then tap the save button at the bottom right.

## Payment settings

| Setting | Effect |
| --- | --- |
| **Currency** | The currency of your prices. If yours is missing, contact Canicompet. |
| **Payment is required before entries close.** | The competitor gets reminders until they have paid. You can manually mark an entry as paid from the list of entrants. |

## Turn on online payment

1. Under **Online Payment**, turn on **Can pay online**.
2. Under **Canicompet fees billing**, choose who pays the fees (see below).
3. Enter the **IBAN** and **BIC** of the account that will receive the money.
4. Under **Emails**, enter the address that will receive the invoice when the payout is made.
5. Save.

## Understand online payment fees

Canicompet charges a service fee on each online payment, that is on each paid cart. A cart can group several entries, meals or accommodation paid in one go.

- Cart of €15 or less: **€0.75** fee.
- Cart of more than €15: **5%** of the amount.

The **Canicompet fees billing** option decides who bears the fee:

| Option | What the competitor pays | What you receive |
| --- | --- | --- |
| **Offered by the organizer** | The displayed price, with no extra. | The price, minus the fee. |
| **Paid by the competitor** | The price, plus **File fees**. | The full price. |

### Examples

With **Offered by the organizer** (fee included):

- €12 cart: €0.75 fee, you receive €11.25;
- €40 cart: €2.00 fee (5%), you receive €38.00.

With **Paid by the competitor** (fee added):

- €12 cart: the competitor pays €12.75, you receive €12;
- €40 cart: the competitor pays €42.11, you receive €40.

> **NOTE**
When the fee is added, the 5% applies to the total amount paid, fee included, and is rounded up to the next cent. That is why a €40 cart gives a €2.11 fee and not €2.00. The flat €0.75 fee applies as long as the cart does not exceed €14.75.

## Payout and invoice

The amount of entries paid online is transferred to your account (**IBAN**) within 7 days after the race. You then receive an invoice, sent to the addresses in the **Emails** field.

## Accept other payment methods

Under **Other Methods**, turn on the ones you accept:

| Setting | Fields to fill in |
| --- | --- |
| **Can pay by cheque** | **Order** (payee of the cheque) and mailing **Address**. |
| **Can pay with money** | None. Usually paid on race day. |
| **Payment on site available** | None. The competitor pays on race day. |

These methods carry no Canicompet fee. Remember to mark entries as paid when you receive the payment.

> **TIP**
You can combine online payment with other methods. The competitor chooses when paying.

## Common issues

- **The payout has not arrived**: check the **IBAN** and **BIC** you entered, then the **Not transferred** tab of [Online payments](/en/docs/organizer/online-payments/).
- **A competitor disputes the file fees**: they only appear with **Paid by the competitor**. Switch to **Offered by the organizer** to remove them from future payments.
