Two-factor authentication: protect your Canicompet account
Turn on two-factor authentication from your profile: a 6-digit code on top of your password, plus backup codes.
A code on top of your password
You can now turn on two-factor authentication on your Canicompet account. Once enabled, the app asks, in addition to your password, for a 6-digit code generated by an authenticator app installed on your phone.
Any authenticator app will do. The screen suggests several, for example Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, Authy, FreeOTP, 1Password or Bitwarden.
How to turn it on
Two-factor authentication is set up from your profile:
- open Profile, then Two-factor authentication;
- scan the QR code with your authenticator app;
- confirm with the first code shown by the app.
Backup codes
Right after activation, backup codes are displayed, only once. Keep them somewhere safe: they let you sign in if you no longer have access to your phone. You enter them in the same field as the usual code. You can generate new ones, or turn two-factor authentication off, from the same page.
Less room for break-in attempts
Since 26 August, sign-in is also protected against repeated attempts: after too many failed password attempts, a message asks you to wait 15 minutes before trying again.
The step-by-step guide is available in the documentation: turning on two-factor authentication. See also sign-in and password.
