Organize a race on Canicompet

To organize a race on Canicompet, you create the event, set it up from its dashboard, publish it, then manage your entrants until you load the results. Adding an event is free: only online payments incur fees.

The steps at a glance

1. Create the event, or clone a past edition. Choose between a calendar listing only and full entry management. See Create an event or clone a past one.
2. Fill in the general information: name, dates, organizers, contact, description and location. See Edit event details, description and location.
3. Create the races and their runs: price, times, distance, teams, required documents. See Create races and their runs.
4. Set up registration: opening dates, number of places, waiting list, restrictions. See Set registration dates and limits.
5. Choose payment methods: online card payment, cheque, cash or on-site payment. See Set up payments.
6. Check, then publish the event from the dashboard. See Use the dashboard and publish your event.
7. Validate your entrants’ documents: licences, medical certificates, dog passports. See Validate entrants’ documents.
8. Communicate with your entrants by email and notification. See Email your entrants.
9. Prepare the starts: waves, start times, bibs and chips. See Prepare start lists.
10. Export the entries for race day or for the timing software. See Export entries.
11. Load the results after the race, from a CSV file or Canichrono. See Import race results.
12. Track online payments and the payout of the money collected. See Track online payments and payouts.

Where to find your organizer tools

All the settings of an event are grouped in its dashboard. To open it:

• on the event page, tap the round pencil button at the bottom right (only visible to the event’s organizers);
• or open Publish an event in the menu, then choose the event under My future events.

The dashboard is organized into sections: General Settings, Event Configuration, Additional Services, Management, Results and Communication.

Note

Only the people listed as Managers for the event can edit it, download the list of entrants and validate documents. You choose them when you create the event, then in General.

What competitors see

Once the event is published and registration is open, competitors register from the event page. To understand their side:

• Register for a race
• Pay for an entry
• Manage your entries
• The dog’s vaccination passport
• The licence and the medical certificate

Canicompet works with the free timing software Canichrono. To use it, entries must be managed on Canicompet. See the timing documentation.
